    This Littau family went to Canada along with Louisa's brother Ludwig Jr. Wonenberg and two sisters Dorothea (John Quast) and Justina Koenig and their families as well as her mother Wilhelmina Bauch Wonnenberg. They went to Hanna, Alberta to homestead except Justina stayed in Calgary and Grandma Wonnenberg stayed with Justina's family.

    made application for land title for the homestead. The application indicated that he had cultivated 28, 12, 60 acres and cropped 0, 40 and 55 acres in the years 1909, 10 and 11. It also indicated that they had 5 horses and 3 cattle by 1912. At the application date the family had a 12 X 14 sod house; a 16 X 33 sod barn; a chicken house; a stable; a water well; 320 rods of fencing. It also indicates that Sam had become a British subject by naturalization. Anton Dofer was the sponsor of this application.

    A patent for title of the land was issued the Department of the Interior.

    Samuel's passport included his family, was issued in Stavropol, North Caucasus Russia in Feb 1900. The ships manifest indicates that they would join Louisa's parents in Oklahoma. He took up farming and children 2,3 & 4 were born in Woodward, OK.

    After all that hard work Sam and his brother-in-law Ludwig Wonnenberg gave up farming in Canada and moved their family to Idaho and in 1933 he bought a farm near Filer, but the timing was not right and he had to sell out in 1934 because of the depression.

    and his family emigrated from 'Nemezko Chaginsk' which is Russian for Kronental North Caucasus. It indicates that the family had $450 and that their destination was El Reno, OK (Near Oklahoma City) and they were sponsered by John Stadler.

    Ludwig took out a homestead at NE27-26n-15w, which is immediately west and adjacent to the town of Avard, northern Oklahoma. After his death in Oct 1904, Wilhelmina made final application and received ownership of this quarter section of land as shown on the Patent Record dated 25 Aug 1905. In 1908, Wilhelmina sold one acre to the local school district #140 and the remainder of the quarter section to Fred Link. Wilhelmina's grave stone reads "Wilhelmina Wonenberg Link" therefore we assume that she married this Fred Link as some point.
