    Notes:

Lydia Jerke, who married Jakob Sandau wrote: "One of Elizabeth's brothers had immigrated to America before Elizabeth and John but had passed away shrortly before they arrived." [see Jerke1, page 11] We know that the John Jerke and his wife Elisabeth Koenig Jerke immigrated to Granada CO in Dec 1907 and that Gottlieb had died in March 1907 in Granada CO. We therfore are assuming that the parents listed on Elizabeth's funeral home record are also the parents of Gottlieb Koenig.

    Illness:

About 1905 he developed breathing problems and the doctor in OK said that he had to go to a drier climate so they moved to Granada CO, likely because Jusinta's brother Daniel W. was working on a sugar beet farm in the area. We know now that he died of TB and that both his father in law, Ludwig W. Sr. and his wife Justina also died of TB.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Reference Number: 1604
    • Reference Number: Koe2

    Notes:

As of 2017, not much is known about Jacob Koenig. He was listed as the father on the death records for both Gottlieb and Elizabeth Koenig. The death record for Elizabeth also listed Katherine Seigfried as her mother, however because of the age difference between Gottlieb and Elizabeth, it is possible they had different mothers.

Gottlieb's daughter, Nathalia, wrote that her Father had two sisters and one brother.

We also know that Gottlieb and family emigrated from Kronental, N Caucasus, Russia. Kronental was a daughter colony of the main colony 'Belowesch', which was estaqblished in 1766/7 by families mainly from Hessen area in Germany.

    Name:
Information from the Allnut Funeral Services show that Jacob Koenig was the name of Elizabeth's father and Gottlieb's death certificate also shows that Jacob was his father

    Name:
We have used the spelling in the record; but Katherine should be the German spelling 'Katharine' and the last name is likely an incorrect spelling - may be Seifried (Siegfried is a common first name).

    1. 2. Gottlieb Koenig was born on 04 Jun 1871 in North Caucasus, Russia; died on 08 Mar 1907 in Granada, Prowers, Colorado, USA; was buried on 10 Mar 1907 in Hillside Cemetery, Granada, Prowers, Colorado, USA.

and his family emigrated from 'Nemezko Chaginsk' which is Russian for Kronental North Caucasus. It indicates that the family had $450 and that their destination was El Reno, OK (Near Oklahoma City) and they were sponsered by John Stadler.

Ludwig took out a homestead at NE27-26n-15w, which is immediately west and adjacent to the town of Avard, northern Oklahoma. After his death in Oct 1904, Wilhelmina made final application and received ownership of this quarter section of land as shown on the Patent Record dated 25 Aug 1905. In 1908, Wilhelmina sold one acre to the local school district #140 and the remainder of the quarter section to Fred Link. Wilhelmina's grave stone reads "Wilhelmina Wonenberg Link" therefore we assume that she married this Fred Link as some point.
