Occupation |
- tried everything from picking fruit in the valley, working in a cannery or a saw mill to working in a creamer in Salmon Arm. During his early years he was a cowboy and played a guitar and sang western songs. During that period he followed the rodeos and rode bulls. At the end of his career he worked for the city of Penticton, where there is an Ohlhausen Road named after him. Alfred was a charming and colourful person who enjoyed life to the fullest.
|
Occupation |
- worked on family history and prepared charts from many documents and other sources. Vi was the first true Ohlhausen family historian in Canada. We know that they were in contact with the very famous Hermann von Olnhausen from Frankfurt Germany, who is known as the authority of the Ohlhausen/Olnhausen family tree. We have copies of letters from Hermann from 1986 to 1995, which contain a great deal of family genealogy. Judging from the amount of material, we can assume that this hobby consumed both Alf and Vi during the later part of Vi's life.
