 | Jerke, John and Daniel Wonnenber and wives From Left:
1. Daniel Wonnenberg b. 1872, was the brother of Justine (Wonnenberg) Koenig, who married Gottlieb Koenig.
2. Mary (Hoffman) Wonnenberg b. 1879, wife of Daniel
3. Elizabeth (Koenig) Jerke b. 1883, sister of Gottlieb and wife of John Jerke
4. John Jerke b. 1878, husband of Elizabeth
Daniel W and his sister Justine W (then m. to Gotlieb K.) immigrated to the USA 1899. Daniel was in Granada, CO. in 1907 to help his sister on a rented farm as Gottlieb K. had died in March 1907.
John Jerke and Elizabeth (Koenig) Jerke immigrated to Granada in Dec 1907 to be united with her brother and family, only to discover that Gottlieb had died in March of that year.
The four people in this picture ended up in the Greeley-La Salle area of Colorado where they raised their families and are buried in Lynn Grove Cemetery in Greeley.
The John Jerke Family Bible ended up in the Daniel Wonnenberg family, who several generations later assumed it was a Wonnenberg family bible (the Bible is in German). Happily it ended up back with the Jerke family. This picture reminds us that these two families must have been very close and we do not know the circumstances surrounding the bible, but we can imagine a situation whereby it may have ended up in the wrong family. |

Notes |
- sold the homestead land for $1500 which included $800 cash and a mortgage of $700.
- In 1907 the family moved to Colorado where they farmed and raised their family until they retired to Greeley in 1931.
