Her mother said that this almost ended in tragedy as the Russian army was recruiting all the men in the Caucasus area for the army and the Quast family had to run out during the night and take a very old rusty boat to America where they landed in Galveston Tx in 1905. They then went to Oklahoma to meet the Wonnenberg family and found out that Dorothea's father had passed away.
